Bu makalede, Aydın'da bulunan Geyre köyünde keşfedilen Afrodisias Antik Kenti ve bu kentin köy halkına etkileri ele alındı. Antik kentin tarihi incelendi ve bu kentin Ara Güler tarafından keşfedilme sürecinden bahsedildi. Afrodisias antik kentinin Times dergisi tarafından ilgi görmesi ve aynı zamanda köyde meydana gelen depremlerde evlerin zedelenmesi ile kazılar için uygun koşullar oluşmasıyla Prof. Dr. Kenan Erim tarafından organize edilen antik kent kazıları başladı. Bu kazıların köy halkına sağladığı iş imkanları, gelir kaynakları ve köyün yapısı gibi çeşitli konularda geçmişten günümüze nasıl bir etki yarattığı incelendi.

This article discusses the ancient city of Aphrodisias, which was discovered in Aydın Geyre, and the effects of the ancient city on the villagers. The history of the ancient city was examined and the process of the discovery of this ancient city, which was discovered by Ara Güler, was mentioned. As a result of the interest shown by Times in the Aphrodisias and the damage happened to the houses because of the earthquakes occured, suitable conditions for excavations was formed and excavations of the ancient city which was organized by Prof. Dr. Kenan Erim began. The impact of these excavations on various issues such as job opportunities, income sources were examined.
