Bu çalışma, 1926 senesinden itibaren Türkiye'de öğretmen yetiştirmek amacıyla kurulmaya başlanan Eğitim Enstitüleri modelini, 1940'lardan sonra yeniden şekillendirilmesini takiben, 1971'de açılmış olan Gaziantep Eğitim Enstitüsü örneği üzerinden inceler. Türkiye'de eğitim tarihine kısa bir bakıştan sonra Gaziantep Eğitim Enstitüsünün kurulma süreci ele alınarak Enstitüde verilen dersler, öğrencilere sağlanan imkanlar ve okul içerisinde gerçekleştirilen sosyal etkinliklerin incelemesi yapılır. özellikle okulun kapatılma sürecine doğru meydana gelen değişikliklerden nasıl etkilendiğini gözler önüne serebilmek için bu nitelikler karşılaştırmalı olarak ayrı bir bölümde incelenir. Ardından, 1980 darbe dönemi öncesi siyasi gerçekliklerinin Enstitü üzerindeki yansımaları ele alınarak toplumsal yapıda meydana gelen değişikliklerin; öğretmen-öğrenci ilişkilerine, öğrencilerin ve okulun eğitim-öğrenim hayatına nasıl etki ettiği ele alınır. Son olarak, darbeyi izleyen süreçte eğitim, politika ve toplum alanlarında meydana gelen değişiklikler sonucunda Eğitim Enstitüleri modelinden günümüz Yükseköğretim sistemine geçilmesi kararıyla 1982 yılında Gaziantep Eğitim Enstitüsünün faaliyetlerine son verilmesi incelenir. Bu anlatımı takiben, Türkiye'de öğretmen yetiştirmenin gelişimine, Gaziantep Enstitüsünün bu süreçte attığı adımlara ve eksik kaldığı noktalara değinilerek, darbe öncesi sosyal yapının 1980 sonrasındaki etkilerine dair yapılan analiz ile çalışma son bulur.

This study examines the institute of education model which was founded in 1926 that aims training teachers, following the reshaping process of institutes after 1940s, by using Gaziantep Education of Institute as the base example. After having a brief look at the educational history of Turkey, the study continues by examining the foundation of Gaziantep Institute of Education, the courses that are given, the physical structure of the institute and the social activities. In order to show the differences that had occurred during the closing period of the institute, these attributes are examined in a comparative way on a separate section. Then, by touching on the effects of the political life of 1980 pre-coup era on the institute, the effects of the changes in social structure on teacher-student relationships and educational life are discussed. Finally, following the coup period, as a consequence of the changes in the areas of education, politics and society; the closure of Gaziantep Institute of Education in 1982 is examined. Following this narration, the study ends with the analysis of the effects of pre-coup social structure to post 1980 while touching on the development of teacher education in Turkey and the steps taken by Gaziantep Institute of Education during the course on the subject.
