Abstract

Charles F. Morse batılı Osmanlı İmparatorluğunda 12 yıl çalışmış ve deneyimlerinin raporlarını aktarmış bir ABCFM misyoneriydi. Paylaştığı deneyimleri ve başkaları tarafından üretilmiş olan ikincil edebiyat aracılığıyla, bu makale Charles F. Morse'ın görevinin batılı Türkiye'ye olan önemini kanıtlamak amacını güder. özellikle de Edirne, Sofya ve Eski Zagra. Görevi Ortodoks Hristiyanlığı yerel halka öğütlemek, İncil'i ve ilgilenenler için başka dini metinleri yaymak ve Hrıstiyan okul ve üniversiteler kurmak üzerine yoğunlaşmıştı.


Charles F. Morse was an ABCFM missionary who worked in western Ottoman Empire for 12 years and relayed detailed accounts of his experiences. Through his shared writings, and the secondary literature produced by others, this paper aims to establish the significance of Charles F. Morse’s mission to western Turkey, namely the cities of Adrianople, Sophia and Eski Zagra. His mission was focused upon preaching orthodox Christianity to the local populace, spreading the bible and other holy scripts to those interested, and establishing Christian schools and colleges.
