Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinin kuruluşu ve tarihi

Abstract

Türkiye tıp tarihinin kökleri Osmanlı Devleti'ne kadar uzanmaktadır. Tarih boyunca tıbbın gelişime önem gösterilse de Cumhuriyet dönemine kadar tıp fakültesi sayısında eksiklikler mevcuttu. Açılan tıp fakültesi sayısında artış yaşanan 1970’li yıllarda kurulan Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, kısıtlı imkânlarla eğitime başladı. Fakülte yıllar içinde gelişerek öğrenci ve akademik kadro sayısını arttırdı. Bu araştırmada Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nin kuruluş yılları ile günümüzde geldiği konumun değerlendirilerek fakültenin gösterdiği gelişimin incelenmesi hedeflendi. Fakültenin kuruluş ve tarihi incelenirken fakülteye bağlı olarak kurulan Balcalı Hastanesi hakkında bilgilere de yer verilmiştir. Türkiye’de tıbbın ilerleyiş sürecini göz önünde bulundurmak amacıyla ülkede açılan ilk tıp fakültelerinin değerlendirmesi de araştırmanın kapsamı içindedir.

The roots of Turkish medical history go back to the Ottoman Empire. Although the development of medicine was given importance throughout history, there were deficiencies in the number of medical faculties until the Republican period. Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, which was established in the 1970s, when there was an increase in the number of medical faculties opened, started education with very limited opportunities. The faculty has developed over the years, increasing the number of students and academic staff. In this research, it is aimed to examine the development of the Faculty of Medicine by evaluating the establishment years of Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine and the position it reaches today. While examining the establishment and history of the Faculty of medicine, information about Balcalı Hospital, which is established under the faculty, is also given. In order to consider the progress of medicine in Turkey, the evaluation of the first medical faculties opened in the country is also within the scope of the research.
