dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractOldukça köklü olan veteriner hekimlik tarihi, hem hayvanlar hem de insanlar açısından oldukça önem taşımaktadır. En eski dönemlerden beri hayatımızda önemli ölçüde yer tutan hayvanlar veterinerlik mesleğini de bir ihtiyaç haline getirmiş ve hayvan sağlığı açısından veteriner hekimlerin zaman içinde değeri artmıştır. Toplumlar modernleştikçe hayvanlara verilen değerin öne çıkardığı veteriner hekimlik mesleğinin tarihi bu makalede ele alınmış ve veteriner hekimliğin zaman içerisindeki değişiminde rol alan kadınların perspektifinden bu meslek araştırılmıştır. Hayvan haklarının gelişimi ve kadınların iş istihdamının artmasıyla beraber gelişen Türkiye’de veterinerlik ve bu alanda rol üstlenen kadınların yeri de değişim göstermiştir. İlk kadın veterinerlerden biri olan Kamuran Öznacar’ın görüşleri de makalede yer almış ve kadınların gözünden veterinerlik tarihi de Türkiye’deki genel veterinerlik tarihiyle beraber incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe deeply-rooted history of veterinary medicine is very important for both animals and humans. Animals, which have taken an important place in our lives since the earliest times, have made the veterinary profession a necessity and the value of veterinarians has increased over time in terms of animal health. The history of the veterinary profession, which is emphasized by the value given to animals as societies modernize, is discussed in this article and this profession is researched from the perspective of women who play a role in the change of veterinary over time. With the development of animal rights and the increase in women's employment, veterinary medicine and the place of women who play a role in this field have also changed in Turkey. The views of Kamuran Öznacar, one of the first female veterinarians, were also included in the article, and the history of veterinary from the perspective of women was also examined in the article together with the history of general veterinary medicine in Turkey.en_US
