Gökçeada Tarım Açık Cezaevi örneği üzerinden 1964’ten sonra İmroz'daki Rum asimilasyon politikaları ve sonrasında yaşananlar

Bu çalışma, Gökçeada'nın tarihi evrimini ve özellikle 1964 Kararları sonrasındaki önemli değişiklikleri incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. İlk bölüm, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'ndan Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'ne geçiş sürecini ve adanın kısa tarihçesini ele almaktadır. 1964 Kararları öncesi dönemin ardından ikinci bölüm, Gökçeada'da Açıkhava Cezaevi'nin kuruluşu, tarımın ve yerleşkenin el değiştirmesi, Dereköy ve Şahinkaya gibi önemli gelişmeleri inceliyor. Üçüncü bölüm, cezaevi etrafında uygulanan asimilasyon politikalarının toplumsal etkilerini ve kültürel değişimleri ele alarak, bu dönemin önemli dinamiklerini ortaya koymaktadır. Son bölümde ise günümüze doğru Gökçeada'nın durumu, özellikle Rum topluluğunun durumu ve toplumsal tepkiler incelenerek, adanın günümüzdeki konumunu anlamamıza katkıda bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Gökçeada'nın geçmişten günümüze olan evrimini anlamak ve adadaki önemli değişiklikleri değerlendirmek adına kapsamlı bir bakış sunmaktadır.

This study aims to examine the historical evolution of Gökçeada, focusing particularly on the significant changes following the Decisions of 1964. The first section addresses the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic of Turkey, briefly outlining the island's history. Following the pre-1964 period, the second section explores the establishment of the Open-Air Prison in Gökçeada, changes in agriculture and settlements, and significant developments in areas like Dereköy and Şahinkaya. The third section delves into the societal effects and cultural transformations resulting from the assimilation policies implemented around the prison, thereby highlighting the critical dynamics of this period. The final section examines the current state of Gökçeada, particularly the situation of the Greek community and societal responses, contributing to our understanding of the island's present status. This study provides a comprehensive view to understand the evolution of Gökçeada from the past to the present and to assess the significant changes on the island.
