dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST209) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractThis research paper seeks to understand the work and life of Memnune Birkan, one of the most influential Tezhip artists of Turkey. Analysis of her work as a traditional Tezhip artist will enable us to capture the true essence of Tezhip art in both today's world and in a time when she had just started learning it. Her contribution to help this art form of illumination prosper and her overall significance is to be examined and highlighted as well in the paper. It will make the comprehension of not just Tezhip art, but other art and artists as well, much easier and would serve as a relevant source to provide cognizance on the subject to interested audiences.
dc.description.abstractBu araştırma Türkiye'nin en etkili tezhip sanatçılarından biri olan Memnune Birkan'ın çalışmalarını ve yaşam tarzını anlatmaya çalışıyor. Geleneksel tezhip sanatçısı olarak çalışmalarının analizi tezhip sanatının gerçek özünü yakalamamız da yardımcı olacak, hem bugünün dünyasında, hem de Birkan'in öğrenmeye yeni başladığı zamanin tezhip sanatın da. Tezhip sanat formunun gelişmesinde yardımcı olmasi ve katkısı akalede incelenecek ve vurgulanacak. Makale, sadece tezhip Tezhip sanatının anlaşılması değil, diğer sanat ve sanatçıların da anlaşılmasını kolaylaştıracak ve konuyla ilgili okuyucu kitlesine biliş sağlamak için ilgili bir kaynak olarak hizmet edecektir.
