Karacaözü Köyü'nün ilk doktoru: Hidayet Erdem

Abstract

Bu makale, modern anlamda protez-ortezin Türkiye'deki gelişimini bu alanın öncü isimlerinden biri olan Hidayet Erdem'in hayatı aracılığıyla incelemektedir. Çankırı'nın Karacaözü köyünde doğan Erdem'in, başına gelen olaylarla birlikte, doğduğu köyden Ankara'ya tıp eğitimi almaya geldiği süreç ele alınırken doktorluğunun ilk yıllarında yaptığı çalışmalarla 1960lı yıllarda Türkiye'deki tıbbi olanaklar ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca, protez-ortez üzerine yaptığı çalışmalarla Türkiye'de bu alanın nasıl geliştiği incelenmiştir. This article aims to examine the condition and development of the prosthetic and orthotic field in Turkey through one of the leading names of the field, Hidayet Erdem's life and his contributions to field of medicine. In the article, the events that have become a turning point in the professional and personal life of Erdem, who was born in Karacaözü, are mentioned. His coming to Ankara from his birthplace to study medicine and the situations he experienced during this process are explained. Along with the studies he has done at the very beginning of his medicine career, the medical supplies in Turkey in 1960s, are the other topics which are transmitted in the article. In addition to these, Erdem's studies on the prosthetic and orthotic, and how this field has improved in Turkey is scrutinised by the presentation of some cases.
