dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractII. Dünya Savaşı sonrasında, uluslararası toplumun etkisi ve BM çalışmaları sayesinde nükleer enerji barışçıl olarak görülmeye başlanmıştır. Bununla birlikte Dünya genelinde uranyum ve toryum elementleri üzerine çalışmalar ve rezerv arayışları ortaya çıkmıştır. Türkiye’de de bu kapsamda 1950-1960 yıllarında Yozgat, Sorgun’da uranyum rezerv araştırmaları yapılmıştır. Yozgat’ta Türkiye’nin en büyük uranyum rezervlerinden birinin bulunduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu çalışmada 1950’1erde Yozgat’ta sürdürülen uranyum arayışlarının yerel tarihine etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu makalede sırasıyla: Yozgat’taki uranyum arama çalışmalarının işleyiş süreci, yerel ekonomiye etkileri, yerel medya ve sanattaki yansımaları, yerel halk sağlığına ve bölge doğasına zararları incelenecektir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAfter the World War II, nuclear energy began to be seen as peaceful, due to the influence of the international community and the work of the UN. However, studies on uranium and thorium elements and search for reserves have emerged throughout the world. Within this scope, uranium reserve researches were carried out in Yozgat, Sorgun between 1950-1960 in Turkey. It has been revealed that Turkey's one of the largest uranium reserves is located in Yozgat. In this study, the effect of uranium pursuits in Yozgat in the 1950s on the local history was examined. In this article, the operation process of uranium exploration activities in Yozgat, their effects on the local economy, their reflections in the local media and industry, and the damage to local public health and the nature of the region will be examined.en_US
