dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu makalede, 1940 ve 1980 Bulgaristan Göçleri 1939 yılında Bulgaristan’dan Türkiye’ye göç eden Baydan ailesi ve 1989 yılında göç eden Çalışkan ailesi üzerinden incelenecektir. İlk bölümde, 1940 ve öncesini kapsayan Bulgaristan Göçlerine dair bilgi verilirken aynı zamanda göçe etki eden çeşitli tarihsel olaylar incelenecektir. İkinci bölümde ise 1989 yıllarında yaşanan göçün detaylarına inilerek, Türk azınlığının psikolojisi, asimilasyon politikaları ve Naim Süleymanoğlu’nun rolü gibi önemli noktalara değinilecektir. Son bölümde ise araştırılan bu iki göçün benzerlik ve farklılıkları karşılaştırılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this article, the mitigation from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1940 and 1980 will be examined through the Baydan family, who emigrated from Bulgaria to Turkey in 1939, and the Çalışkan family, who emigrated in 1989. In the first chapter, information about migrations covering 1940 and before will be provided, while at the same time, various historical events affecting migration will be examined. In the second part, the details of the migration in 1989 will be discussed, and essential points such as the psychology of the Turkish minority, assimilation policies, and Naim Suleymanoglu will be discussed. In the last section, the similarities and differences of these two migrations will be compared.en_US
