dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’de müzik terapinin tarihi, eğitsel, kültürel ve klinik alanlardaki gelişimini araştırmayı amaçlayan bu çalışmada müzik terapinin Türkiye’deki tarihi temelleri ele alınarak eski Türklerden bu yana müziğin bir tedavi aracı olarak nasıl işlev gördüğü, Türkiye’de müzik terapistlerinin nasıl eğitildiği ve kurumsallaşma çabaları incelendi. Araştırmada Avrupa’daki çağdaş müzik terapi stilleri, geleneksel yaklaşımlarla da karşılaştırıldı. Azize Güvenç’in kişisel ve mesleki yaşam öyküsü aktarıldı, akademik çalışmaları ve uygulamaları aracılığıyla müzik terapiye katkıları değerlendirildi. Türkiye’de müzik terapinin kurumsallaşmasında Rahmi ve Azize Güvenç’in düzenlediği seminerler, uluslararası etkinlikler ve konserlerin etkisine değinildi.
dc.description.abstractThis study aims to explore the historical, educational, cultural, and clinical development of music therapy in Turkey. By examining the historical foundations of music therapy in the country, it investigates how music has functioned as a healing tool since old Turkish civilizations, how music therapists are trained in Turkey, and the efforts toward institutionalization. The study also compares contemporary European music therapy styles with traditional approaches. The personal and professional life story of Azize Güvenç is shared along with her contributions to music therapy through academic work and practical applications. The impact of seminars, international events, and concerts organized by Rahmi and Azize Güvenç on the institutionalization of music therapy in Turkey is discussed.
