| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | Hasan Tan’ın 14 Şubat 1977’de ODTÜ Rektörlüğü’ne atanmasına karşı öğretim elemanları, öğrenciler ve öğrenci ailelerinin gösterdiği tepki giderek yükselmiş ve dokuz ay devam eden bir boykot gerçekleşmiştir. Bu protesto eylemleri süresince birçok şiddet eylemi gerçekleşmiş, öğrencilerden ve Hasan Tan yönetimince işe alınan işçilerden ölenler olmuştur. Hasan Tan’ın 22 Haziran 1977’de istifasının ardından 5 Ekim 1977 tarihinde Nuri Saryal rektörlük görevine getirilmiştir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Hasan Tan was assigned to METU rectorship on 14 February 1977. METU students and academicians reactions to this designation speeded up gradually and a 9 month-boycott took place. During these protests, numerous acts of violence happened. Consequently, some of the students and so-called workers employed by Hasan Tan were killed. Finally, Nuri Saryal was assigned to rectorship after the resignation of Hasan Tan on 5 October 1977. | en_US |
