Türk Cerrahi Derneği'nde kadınların pozisyonunun Türk kadınının toplumdaki ve tıptaki yeri üzerinden incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Türk Cerrahi Derneğinde kadın cerrah üye sayısının erkek üye sayısına göre oldukça az olmasının ve 2008'e kadar derneğin hiç kadın başkanının bulunmamasının nedenleri; Türk kadınının, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kuruluşundan günümüze kadar gelişen Türk Tıp ve Cerrahi Bilimi'ndeki yeri üzerinden araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada sorulan sorular dernekteki cinsiyet eşitsizliğinin, dernek içerisinde bulunan bazı sorunlardan mı yoksa genel olarak Türk Tıp ve Cerrahisi'nde mevcut olan sorunlardan mı kaynaklandığını belirlemeye yöneliktir. Araştırmada Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Genel Cerrahi Ana Bilim Dalı'nda ihtisas yapan ilk kadın hekim olan, Türk Cerrahi Derneğinin kuruluşundan bu yana ikinci kadın ve güncel başkanı olan Profesör Doktor Seher Demirer'in tecrübelerinden ve düşüncelerinden yararlanılmıştır.

This study aims to find out the reason why the female surgeon members of Turkish Surgical Society (TCD) is an extreme minority, when compared to male members, and why there has not been any women presidents in TCD until 2008. In order to find an explanation to this matter this study also examines woman's place in medicine and its development through the formation of the Republic of Turkey to date. Questions are asked to find whether the gender inequality in TCD is caused because of the problems within the TCD or because of broader problems that exist in Turkish medicine and surgical science. Professor Doctor Seher Demirer's opinions and experiences are intensively used in this study, who is the first woman doctor to specialize in the General Surgical Department of Ankara University and also the up to date and second woman president of TCD.
