With the steps of liberalization taken in the 1960s, Anafartalar Bazaar is one of the concrete proofs of the changing face of the capital Ankara, which is also a symbol of the ideals of the newly established Turkish Republic. The bazaar, which started to open in 1963, has many shops and is one of the first shopping centers in Turkey with this feature. Another thing that makes the bazaar special is the plastic works of art that it has hosted since the day it opened. The bazaar, which contains ceramic panels and murals in abstract form by master artists such as Füreya Koral, Seniye Fenmen and Nuri İyem, has an exceptional place worldwide with its representation of abstract art in the public sphere. These artifacts also played a key role in the survival of the bazaar, which was in danger of being demolished in 2017.en_US
