dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAraştırmanın amacı Profesör Doktor Salim Çıracı ve öncülüğünde 2007 yılında kurulan Ulusal Nanoteknoloji Araştırma Merkezi’nin (UNAM) Türkiye’deki nanoteknoloji bilim alanına katkılarını ve Profesör Salim Çıracı’nın bu sürece etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Profesör Salim Çıracı’nın hayatı ve UNAM’ın kuruluş sürecinde yaşadıkları üzerine röportaj yapılmıştır. Bunun yanında Türkiye’deki nanoteknoloji alanındaki gelişmeler UNAM’ın kuruluşu öncesi ve sonrası olarak iki döneme ayrılarak araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen bilgiler ışığında Profesör Salim Çıracı’nın eğitim hayatı ve akademik kariyerinin UNAM’ın kuruluşuna etkileri, UNAM’dan önceki ve sonraki dönemdeki çalışmalar karşılaştırılarak UNAM’ın Türkiye’deki nanoteknoloji alanına katkıları ve son olarak Türkiye’deki diğer araştırma merkezleri ve nanoteknolojiye katkıları ortaya konulmuştur.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe aim of this research is to investigate contributions of the National Nanotechnology Research Center (UNAM), which was established in 2007 under the leadership of Professor Doctor Salim Çıracı, to the field of nanotechnology in Turkey and the effect of Professor Salim Çıracı on this process. In accordance with this purpose, an interview was conducted on the life of Professor Salim Çıracı and his experiences during the establishment of UNAM. In addition, developments in the field of nanotechnology in Turkey were investigated by dividing into two periods as before UNAM and after UNAM. In the light of the information obtained, theeffects of Professor Salim Çıracı's educational life and academic career on the establishment of UNAM, the contributions of UNAM to the field of nanotechnology in Turkey by comparing the studies before and after UNAM, and finally other research centers and their contributions to nanotechnology have been proposed.en_US
