Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu, eğitime ve öğretmen yetiştirmeye katkıları

Abstract

Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde, öğretmen açığını kapatmak ve nitelikli öğretmenler yetiştirmek amacıyla kurulan Yüksek Öğretmen Okulları, Türkiye’nin eğitim tarihinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu araştırmada, temelleri Tanzimât Dönemi’ne kadar uzanan Yüksek Öğretmen Okullarına ek olarak, öğrenci seçimi ve eğitim modeli ile Fransız eğitim modeline yakın bir yapıyla başarı elde eden Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulunun Türkiye’de eğitime ve öğretmen yetiştirmeye katkıları incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulunun hangi yöntemler ile liseler ve ilköğretim okulları için nitelikli öğretmenler yetiştirdiği ve öğrenci seçiminde hangi yöntemleri izleyerek köylerdeki yetenekli çocuklara üniversite eğitimi imkânı sağladığı araştırılmıştır. Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulunun oldukça kapsamlı olan müfredatı ile öğrencilerine sunduğu alan eğitimi, mesleki eğitim, yabancı dil eğitimi ile ülkedeki öğretmen yetiştirme sorununa nasıl cevap verdiği ortaya konmuştur. Mezunları Türk eğitimine önemli katkılarda bulunan Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulunun yetiştirdiği akademisyenler, dekanlar, dershane kurucuları ve önde gelen eğitimcilere de araştırmada yer verilmiştir. Araştırma, cevap aradığı bu sorular ile Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulunun nasıl nitelikli öğretmenler yetiştirerek Türk eğitimine değer kattığını ortaya koymaktadır.

During the Republican Era, Teacher Training Schools, established to address the shortage of teachers and to train qualified educators, hold a significant place in Turkey's educational history. This research examines the contributions of Teacher Training Schools, whose foundations date back to the Tanzimat Era, and particularly focuses on Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu, which achieved success with an education model closely aligned with the French education system in terms of student selection and educational model. Additionally, the methods employed by Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu to train qualified teachers for high schools and primary schools, and the techniques used in student selection to provide university education opportunities for talented children in villages, are investigated. The research also sheds light on how Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu addressed the issue of teacher training in the country through its comprehensive curriculum covering subject education, profession, education, foreign language education, and how it produced answers to the problem of teacher training in the country. The study also includes discussions on the contributions of Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu graduates to Turkish education, including academics, deans, founders of prep schools, and prominent educators. By addressing these questions, the research highlights how Ankara Yüksek Öğretmen Okulu contributed value to Turkish education by producing qualified teachers.
