dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu projede 1973 Küresel Petrol Krizi’nin ve 1979 İkinci Petrol Krizi’nin Türkiye’deki yansımaları incelenecektir. Çalışmada 1973-80 yılları arasındaki ekonomik sıkıntıların temel sebeplerinden biri olan bu krizin yol açtığı sorunlar ve tedbirler ele alınacak ve bunların halk üzerindeki yansıması üzerinde durulacaktır. Krizin etkilerini hafifletmek için alınan kararlardan, halkın alım gücünden, karne uygulamalarından ve bireysel ve devlet genelinde tasarruf uygulamalarından bahsedilecektir. Petrol krizine halkın tepkisini gösteren popüler kültür ögelerine değinilecektir. Halkın ekonomik sorunlara bağlı olarak değişen hayatı 1973- 79 Dünya Petrol Krizleri’nin Türkiye’deki öneminin anlaşılması açısından önemlidir.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this project, effects of the 1973 Global Oil Crisis and 1979 Second Oil Crisis on Turkey, will be analyzed. This work will stand on the problems, precautions, and effects on citizens of the economic crisis between 1973-80 mainly caused by the global oil crisis. The results of precautions taken to ease the effects of the crisis on the civilians, their status of wealth, personal and governmental savings will be mentioned. Public’s reaction to the oil crisis will be explained via popular culture. Public’s changing lifestyle as the result of economic problems, is an important topic to learn the serious situation of Turkey during the petrol crisis between 1973- 79.en_US
