| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | şeker Sanayi, Cumhuriyet dönemi sanayileşmesinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu sanayinin kuruluşta öncelik sahibi olmasının başat nedenlerinden biri, farklı alanlarla ilişkisinin fazlalığıdır. Diğer yandan tarımsal üretim süreçleri ile sıkı bir ilişki içinde bulunan bu sektörde çiftçilerin konumu önem kazanmaktadır. Bu nedenle fabrikanın varlığı çiftçilerin sosyal ve kültürel hayatını büyük ölçüde etkileyecektir. Bu çalışmada Alpullu şeker Fabrikası’nın kuruluşundan itibaren bölge için etkilerinin tespiti amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaçla başta yer seçimi unsuru olmak üzere fabrikanın kuruluş süreci ele alınacaktır. öncesinde genel bir çerçeve çizmek amacıyla Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nde şeker sanayi için yapılan yasal düzenlemelere yer verilecektir. Ardından şeker sektörünün diğer sektörlerle ilişkisi genel olarak ortaya konulacaktır. Bu etkiler göz önünde tutularak fabrikanın bölgede oynadığı sosyal rolünün tespitine çalışılacaktır. Benzer bir inceleme Uşak şeker Fabrikası’nın kuruluş süreci için de yapılacaktır. Son olarak tüm veriler değerlendirilerek fabrikanın gelecekteki rolü üzerinde değerlendirme yapılacaktır. | en_US |

One of the main reasonswhythisindustry has a priority in theestablishment of therepublic is itsrelationtodifferentfields. On theotherhand, theposition of farmers in thissector, which has a closerelationshipwiththeagriculturalproductionprocesses, gainsimportance. Inthisstudy, it is aimedtodeterminetheeffects of Alpullu SugarFactoryfortheregion since itsestablishment. Forthispurpose, theprocess of establishment of thefactoryandnotablyitsfactor of site selectionwill be discussed. Inordertodraw a general framework, legal regulationsforthesugarindustrywill be included in theRepublicanPeriod. Then, therelationshipbetweenthesugarsectorandothersectorswill be revealed. Consideringtheseeffects, thesocial role of thefactory in theregionwill be studied. A similarexaminationwill be carriedoutfortheestablishment of Uşak SugarFactory.
