dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractLubunya tarihçesi dünyanın tümünde olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de çok eski tarihlere dayanmaktadır. Ancak eşcinsel bireylerin varlığının tanınması, haklarının savunulması ve toplumda yer edinilmesi ve LGBTQ+ aktivizminin sistemleşmesi 1980’li yılları bulmaktadır. Bu makalede hedeflenen, LGBTQ+ aktivizminin Türkiye’deki öncülerinden olan KAOS GL dergisinin bu alanda yaptığı çalışmaları incelemektir. Makalede ele alınan konuların içinde KAOS GL dergisinin bu sistematikleşmeye olan katkısı, fanzin olarak kuruluşu, dönemin şartlarında yaşanılan zorluklar, yapılan başarılı çalışmaklar ve derginin Türk lubunyalarının sesinin duyrulmasında yaptığı çalışmalara yer verilmektedir. Derginin tarihinin araştırılmasında kullanılan kaynakların yanı sıra, Gözde Demirbilek ile yapılan röportajda ise birinci elden o günleri yaşamış bireylerin dergi ve derginin bağlı olduğu dernek özelinde anlatılan anıları ile birlikte derginin vizyonu ve misyonu hakkında edinilen detaylı bilgiler makalenin LGBTQ aktivizminde KAOS GL’nin yeri hakkında önemli içerikler sağlamaktadır.
dc.description.abstractJust as the rest of the world, the history of Homosexuality in Turkiye also dates back to older times. However, recognition of queer individuals, defending of their rights ,finding a place for themselves in the society and having LGBTQ+ activism get systematic dates around 1980s. In this article, some of the topics covered are the contributions of KAOS GL to the systematic structure of LGBTQ+ activism, fanzine establishment of the magazine, difficulties tackled due to the social structure of the country and the contributions of the magazine to the defending of the queer rights in Turkiye. Apart from the articles and books used to analyse the history of the magazine, the interview held with Gözde Demirbilek provides a perspective on the memories of individuals who lived through the first years of the magazine and the association that is connected to the magazine as well as information about the mission and the vision of the magazine.
