dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBirçok sanatçı yetiştirmiş olan Şakir Paşa ailesine 1901 yılında doğan Fahrelnissa, küçük yaşlarda abisi Cevat Şakir’in sanatçı ruhundan etkilenmesiyle resim sanatına büyük bir tutku geliştirdi. İlerleyen dönemlerde İnas Sanayi-i Nefise ve Academie Ranson gibi okullarda sanatını geliştiren Fahrelnissa 1942 yılında D grubuna katıldı. Avrupa’nın birçok yerinde sergi açan Fahrelnissa, Doğu ve Batı sentezi bir sanat anlayışına sahip soyut resimleri ve özellikle hayatının son döneminde çizdiği portreleriyle tanındı. 1990 yılında hayatının son yıllarını geçirdiği ve kurduğu akademiyle birçok sanatçı yetiştirdiği Amman’da hayatını kaybetti. Çok geniş bir coğrafyada özgün sanatıyla iz bıraktı.en_US
dc.description.abstractBorn to the Şakir Pasha family, who had trained many artists, in the last period of the Ottoman Empire, Fahrelnissa developed a great passion for painting at a young age, influenced by the artistic spirit of her older brother Cevat Şakir. Fahrelnissa, who developed her art in schools such as İnas Sanayi-i Nefise and Academie Ranson in the following periods, joined the D group in 1942. Fahrelnissa, who had exhibitions in many parts of Europe, became known for her abstract paintings with an artistic understanding of eastern and western synthesis, and especially for the portraits she drew in the last period of her life. She died in Amman in 1990, where she spent the last years of her life and trained many artists with the academy she founded.en_US
