dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1926 yılında İstanbul’da doğan İlhan Mimaroğlu, 1945’te Galatasaray Lisesi’nden 1949 yılında da Ankara Hukuk Fakültesi’nden mezun olmuştur. Rockefeller Bursu’yla 1955 yılında müzik eğitimi almak üzere Columbia Üniversitesi'ne gitmiştir. Columbia-Princeton Elektronik Müzik Merkezi’nde elektronik müzik ile tanışmış ve kendi bestelerini oluşturmaya başlamıştır. New York’ta Atlantic Records’ta çalışmış ve kendi plak şirketi Finnadar Records’u kurmuştur. 1971 yılında Guggenheim Fellow ödülünü kazanmıştır. İlhan Mimaroğlu 2012 yılında 86 yaşında vefat etmiştiren_US
dc.description.abstractİlhan Mimaroğlu was born in Istanbul in 1926, and he graduated from Galatasaray Highschool in 1945 and Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1949. In 1955, he went to Columbia University to study music with the Rockefeller Scholarship. His first acquaintance with electronic music was in the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center, and he began composing his own electronic music pieces. He had worked in Atlantic Records and founded his own label company named Finnadar Records. He was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship in 1971. İlhan Mimaroğlu died in 2012 at age 86.en_US
