dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractRock müzik 1950’li yılların başında Amerika‘da keşfedilmiş ardından dünyaya yayılmış ve hala çokça dinlenmekte olan bir müzik türüdür. Türkiye’de ise bu türe yıllarca emek vermiş, bilinen olduğu kadar bilinmeyen de birçok müzisyen bulunmaktadır. Gürcan Konanç da bu müzisyenlerin Ankara’daki temsilcilerinden biridir. Bateriye olan tutkusu ve sevgisinin yanı sıra tecrübesi ve eğitmen kişiliğiyle de Türk Rock müzik türüne hizmet etmiştir. Gürcan Konanç’ın sanatla ilk karşılaşması ailesi sayesinde olmuştur. İlk deneyimlerini resim yaparak yaşasa da içindeki müzik tutkusuyla bateriye yönelmiştir. Sedat Sarıca ise ona bateri çalmayı öğretmiştir. Mekanlarda çalarak kendini geliştirmeye devam eden Konanç’ın çevresi müzik sektöründe genişlemeye başlamıştır. Bu çevre ise ona Pilli Bebek’te müzik yapabilmenin yolunu açmıştır. Günümüzde ise canlı bir şekilde performanslarına devam ederken, kendi deneyimleri ve müzik bilgisini gençlere aktararak bilgilerini gelecek nesillere devretmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractRock music was invented in 1950 in America, and it spread through the world and became one of the most popular music genres in the world and it reaches millions of people. In Turkey, there are many famous musicians and people who are unknown in this music genre. Gürcan Konanç is one of the unknown representatives of rock music in Ankara. He is passionate about drums, and also he has been teaching and playing the drums for years. He first met with painting, but his passion made him learn how to play the drum. His teacher is Sedat Sarıca. After his learning experience, he started to play at different places. Those experiences provided him with a network in the music industry. Thanks to his network, he played the drum for Pilli Bebek, which is one of the famous Turkish rock groups in Turkey. Today he both makes live performances and continues to teach.en_US
