Türkiye'nin Eurovision’daki ilk başarısı: Şebnem Paker ve Grup Etnik

Abstract

Tarihinde ilk kez 1975 yılında Eurovision şarkı yarışmasına katılan Türkiye, 1997 yılında ilk kez Şebnem Paker’in “Dinle” adlı parçası ile ilk üç sıraya girmeyi başardı. 22 yılın ardından gelen bu başarı Türkiye gündemini ve özellikle müzik camiasını yarışma sonrasında uzun süre meşgul etti. Bu çalışmada 1997 yılında Türkiye’nin Eurovision şarkı yarışmasına katılma süreci, katılacak yarışmacı ve grupların seçilme aşaması araştırılmıştır. Dönemin gazete haberleri ve röportajları incelenerek elde edilen başarının katılan ekibin günlük yaşamına, dönemin gündemine ve müzik hayatına etkisi gözlemlenmiştir.

Participating in the Eurovision song contest for the first time in its history in 1975, Turkey succeeded to enter the top three for the first time in 1997 with Şebnem Paker's song “Dinle”. This success, which was achieved after 22 years, occupied Turkey's agenda and especially the music community for a long time after the competition. In this work, the process of Turkey's participation in the Eurovision song contest in 1997 and the selection stage of the contestants and groups to participate in were investigated. By examining the newspaper and interviews of that period, the effect of the success achieved on the daily life of the participating team, the agenda of the period and the music life were observed.
