Gaziantep'te Sedef Kakma Sanatı ve Sedefkarlık

Uzun yıllardır Anadolu insanın el emeğini, el sanatlarına olan ilgisini ve zevkini yansıtan Sedef Kakma sanatı. Türkiye'de ve özellikle Gaziantep ilinde sürdürülmektedir. Bu araştırmada Türkiye'deki tarihçesinden, uygulanan farklı türlerdeki metotlardan, kullanılan özel malzemelerden bahsedilerek Gaziantep ilindeki özelliklerine indirgenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu indirgenme sonucu sedef kakma sanatının ve sedefkarlığın Gaziantep ilindeki tarihçesi, yıllar içerisindeki değişimi ve gördüğü değer kapsamı, usta çırak ilişkini, bu sanatın ve bunu uygulayan sanatçıların Gaziantep ekonomisine ve kendi ekonomik durumlarına katkısı, yaşanılan değer kaybı sonrası tekrardan bunu kazanması için yapılan devam çalışmaları ve Gaziantep ilinde yapılan sedef kakma sanatıyla yapılan ürünlerin neler olduğu ve bu ürünlerin kullanım amaçlarının işlenmesi bu araştırma raporunda işlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra Gaziantep ilinde yaşayan ve sedef kakma sanatını uzun yıllardır bu sanatı mesleği olarak gören 2 sedefkar ustası ve yine uzun yıllardır bu sanatla uğraşan ve Gaziantep Olgunlaşma Enstitüsünde bu sanat üzerine eğitim veren bir sedefkar ustası ile yapılan röportajlar bu araştırma raporunda kapmasa altına alınmıştır.

For a long period of time, Mother of Pearl inlay which comes from the people's hands from Anatolia and defines their interest and taste in handicrafts, continues to sustain in Turkey, especially in the city Gaziantep. In this research, the main aim is to mention the history of Mother of Pearl inlay in Turkey, the different methods of the inlaying process, the special materials which is being used during process and defining them especially in the aspect of Gaziantep. By the aspect of Gaziantep, the main aim of this research is to refer to the history of Mother of Pearl inlay in Gaziantep, the change it got through the years, the value it gets, the relationship between masterapprentice, the economic return it gives to Gaziantep and the masters who have been doing this for years, the loss of value it gets through years and the continuity studies which have been going on to help it to gain its value back, the products which have been created by the Mother of Pearl inlay and their aim of usage especially on the city Gaziantep. Besides of this, the interviews which have been done with two masters in Mother of Pearl inlay who have been doing this job for years and define this job as their desire, and the interview which have been done with another master who is working in "Gaziantep Olgunlaşma Enstitüsü" and trying to teach other generations how to do this art and trying to give the value which Mother of pearl inlay lost but still deserve, helps to cover the main aim of this research.
