dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAbdülkadir Akcan, 1955 yılında Ankara’nın Kızılcahamam ilçesine bağlı Belpınar Köyü’nde doğmuştur. Dedesinin varlıklı birisi olması sayesinde gramofon ile küçük yaşlarda, Belpınar Köyü’nde yaşadığı yıllarda tanışmıştır. Kadir Akcan Belpınar Köyü’nde başlamış olduğu eğitim hayatına birçok farklı okulda devam etmiştir ve ilkokul dördüncü sınıfta okulu bırakmıştır. Meslek hayatına kamyon şoförlerine muavinlik yaparak başlamış daha sonraları ise otobüs ve ambulans şoförlüğü yapmıştır. Emekliliğinden sekiz yıl önce Pirinç Han’da gramofon tamirleri için önce deposunu sonra da atölyesini kurmuştur. Hala aynı atölyede gramofon tamirciliğini sürdürmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAbdulkadir Akcan was born in 1955 in Belpınar Village Kızılcahamam, Ankara. Because his grandfather was wealthy, Kadir Akcan met gramophone in his early ages. Kadir Akcan started his education in Belpınar Village but continued in various schools and ended his education at fourth grade. Kadir Akcan began working as an assistant to truck drivers and continued working as bus and ambulance driver. Eight years before his retirement, Kadir Akcan first opened a repository and then a workshop in Pirinç Han for gramophone repairs. He still continues repairing gramophones in the same workshop.en_US
