dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu yazı, Yayladağı ve Samandağı ilçelerinin sosyal ve kültürel değişimleri, göç dalgalarının bölge üzerindeki etkilerini ve buna bağlı olarak nüfus politikalarını ve sonuçlarını içeren kapsamlı bir inceleme sunmaktadır. Yazıda, bölgenin tarihsel ve kültürel mirasının demografik yapıya olan etkisi, iskânın nedenleri ve sonuçları, nüfus politikaları ve yönetişim, sosyal ve ekonomik bağlamdaki değişimler, bölgede gerçekleşen iskânın ardından uygulanan politikaların etkileri ele alınmaktadır. Buna ek olarak, belgede Yayladağı ve Samandağı'nın tarihî demografik dinamikleri ve cumhuriyet sonrası nüfus haritası da detaylı bir şekilde incelenmektedir. Göç dalgalarının bölgede yarattığı etkilerden ve farklı kültürlerin bölgeyi nasıl etkilediği tartışılmaktadır. Ekonomik büyüme, gelir dağılımı ve sosyal refah üzerindeki etkileri de incelenmektedir. Ayrıca göçün sosyo-ekonomik dinamikler, işgücü piyasaları, kaynak tahsisi, altyapı ihtiyaçları ve sosyal hizmet talepleri üzerindeki etkisini de vurgulamaktadır. Yerleşim politikalarının tarım üzerindeki etkisi de araştırılmaktadır. Belge, bölgedeki nüfus dinamiklerini şekillendiren tarihi, kültürel ve demografik faktörlerin kapsamlı bir analizini sunmayı amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca entegrasyon zorluklarını ve nüfus politikalarının bölgenin tarihi yapısını korumada ki rolünü de tartışmaktadır. Genel olarak belge, Yayladağı ve Samandağı bölgelerinde nüfus değişiklikleri, göç, yönetişim ve sosyo-ekonomik kalkınma arasındaki karmaşık etkileşimin ayrıntılı bir incelemesini sunmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThis article presents a comprehensive review of the social and cultural changes in the Yayladağı and Samandağı districts, the current situation of migration waves in the region, and the population policies and summaries accordingly. The article discusses the impact of the demographic structure of the regional and cultural formations in the region, the reasons and consequences of the settlement, population policies and management, social and economic structural changes, and the effects of the policies implemented after the settlement in the region. In addition, the historical demographic dynamics of Yayladağı and Samandağı and their population maps after the republic were also shown in detail in the document. The effects of migration waves in the region and the distribution of different cultures were discussed. The effects on economic growth, income status, and social welfare are examined. It also emphasizes the socio-economic dynamics of migration, system markets, resource services, infrastructure services, and growth over social services. The impact of settlement policies on agriculture is also being investigated. The document aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the historical, cultural, and demographics that shape the population dynamics in the region. The integration challenges and the role of population policies in preserving regional history are also discussed. Overall, the paper provides a detailed examination of the complex regime between population increases, migration, governance, and socio-economic development in the Yayladağı and Samandağı regions.
