| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | |

| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışma 1989 yılında başlayan Bulgaristan göçünün nedenleri, Bulgaristan’da Türklere uygulanan asimilasyon politikalarını ve göçün Balıkesir’i nasıl sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik açılardan nasıl etkilediği incelenmektedir. Araştırmanın başlıca amacı 1989 Bulgaristan göçünün Balıkesir’e olan sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik etkilerini anlamak olup bunu göç eden kişilerin tecrübelerini, anılarını ve konu hakkındaki kapsamlı bilgileri eşliğinde detaylı bir şekilde sunmaktır. Bulgaristan Türklerini göçe iten asimilasyon politikalarından ve göç sürecinden bahsedilecektir. Balıkesir’in göçmenlere sağladığı imkanlar aktarılacaktır. Göçmenlerin kendilerine has geleneklerinin, alışkanlıklarının ve görgülerinin Balıkesir’e olan etkileri olarak incelenecektir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This study examines the reasons for the migration to Bulgaria that started in 1989, the assimilation policies applied to Turks in Bulgaria, and how the migration affected Balıkesir socially, culturally and economically. The main aim of the research is to understand the social, cultural and economic effects of the 1989 Bulgarian migration to Balıkesir and to present this in detail, accompanied by the experiences, memories and comprehensive knowledge of the migrating people on the subject. The assimilation policies and migration process that pushed Bulgarian Turks to migrate will be discussed. The opportunities provided by Balıkesir to immigrants will be transferred. The effects of immigrants' unique traditions, habits and manners on Balıkesir will be examined. | |
