Çocuk ruh sağlığı ve psikiyatrisini Türkiye’ye tanıtan doktor: Atalay Yörükoğlu

Çocuk ve Ergen Psikiyatrisi, çocukluk ve ergenlik dönemindeki bireylerin akıl sağlığıyla ilgilenir. Bu Anabilim Dalının Türkiye’de kuruculuğunu üstlenen Profesör Doktor Atalay Yörükoğlu’nun hayatı, makalemizin ana konusudur. Konumuz akademik kariyerinin yanında Atalay Yörükoğlu’nun kim olduğunu ve bu ilki nasıl gerçekleştirdiğini de kapsamaktadır. Bu açıdan tıpkı kendisinin çocuk ruh sağlığını inceleyerek insanın temeline inmeyi amaçladığı gibi biz de onun hayat hikayesinin ve Türk toplumuna sağladığı katkıların temellerine inmeyi amaçladık. Makalemizde sırasıyla Çocuk Psikiyatrisinin dünyadaki ve Türkiye’deki tarihinden başlayarak Atalay Yörükoğlu’nun kişisel hayatı, eğitim süreci, kariyeri hayatı, ortaya koyduğu eserler ve Türkiye’ye sağladığı katkılar incelenmiştir.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry deals with the mental health of the individuals in childhood and adolescence. The main focus of this study is the life of Atalay Yorukoglu who is the founder of this department in Turkey. Our subject matter covers who Atalay Yörükoğlu is, as well as his academic career and how he pioneered this novelty. In this respect, we aimed to get to the bottom of the foundations of his life story and his contributions to Turkish society, just as he aimed to get to the bottom of human being by examining the mental health of children. In this study, starting from the history of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry both in the world and in Turkey, Atalay Yorukoglu’s personal life, educational background, career, works and contributions to Turkey were respectively examined.
