dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada, Darüşşafakalılar Derneği’nin kurulduğu tarihten itibaren günümüze kadar olan gelişimi, değişimi, yaşanan çeşitli olaylar ile bu olayların çıkış nedenleri ve sonuçları ayrıca derneğin geçirdiği değişim ve gelişim sürecinin derneğin ilk yıllarındaki kuruluş amacı ile günümüz dernek işleyişi ve amaçları arasında ne gibi değişikliklere sebep olduğu ya da olmadığının objektif bir şekilde değerlendirilmeye alınması amaçlanmıştır. Kaynak olarak sözlü kaynaklar ve daha önce çeşitli kişiler ile kuruluşların yazılı hale getirmiş olduğu makale, kitap, ansiklopedi ve diğer çeşitli yazılı kaynaklar kullanılmıştır. Yaptığımız bu tarihsel değerlendirme ağırlıklı olarak derneğin kuruluş yıllarını, Cumhuriyet dönemini ve günümüz Darüşşafakalılar Derneği’ni içermektedir. Mümkün olduğunca bu dönemler arasında bağlantı kurulmaya çalışılmışsa da özellikle Cumhuriyet döneminden itibaren günümüze kadar olan süreç arasındaki bilgilerin yazılı kaynaklardan çok sözlü kaynaklarda bulunabilecek olması ve sözlü kaynaklara ulaşılması aşamasındaki zorluklardan ötürü bağlantılar tam anlamıyla sağlanamamıştır. Ancak başlarda kuruluş amacı olarak esnaf çıraklarına İslamiyet temellerini ve çeşitli evrakları yazabilecek duruma getirmeyi amaçlayan bir derneğin nasıl bir değişime uğradığı dahası kimlerle ve ne şekilde değiştiği günümüze nasıl ulaştığı soruları araştırmamızın başlıca konularıdır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this study, it is aimed to investigate the development, change, various events that have taken place since the date of the establishment of the Darüşşafakalılar Derneği and the causes and consequences of these incidents as well as the results of the changes and development process of the developments during the first years of the foundation and the changes whether or not they are in an objective way. As sources, oral resources and articles, books, encyclopedias and other various written sources that previously have been written by various individuals and organizations have been used. This historical assessment we make mainly includes the foundation years of the association, the Republican period and the nowadays Association of Darüşşafakalılar. As far as possible, the link between these periods was tried to be established, but the links between the process from the Republican period to nowadays process could be found in verbal sources rather than the written sources and because of the difficulties in reaching the oral sources the connections were not fully realized. However, in the beginning, a foundation aiming at bringing the foundations of Islam and the various documents to the apprentices' apprenticeship in the beginning is the main subjects of how to investigate the question of how to change and how to change day by day.en_US
