dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye’de yayıncılık faaliyeti ilk radyo yayını denemeleri ile başlar. Diğer ülkelere kıyasla, Türkiye’nin teknolojik gelişmelere olan adaptasyonu hızlı olmadığından dolayı televizyon yayınına geçişi gecikmiştir. Nihayet televizyon yayınına geçildiğinde ise, devlet adına radyo ve televizyon yayınlarını gerçekleştirmek için bir kuruma ihtiyaç duyulmuş ve Türkiye Radyo Televizyon Kurumu (TRT) kurulmuştur. TRT’nin ilk yayınını gerçekleştirmesiyle birlikte, çeşitli zorluklar yaşansa dahi, Türkiye’de yayıncılık faaliyeti hızla ve başarıyla ivme kazanmıştır. TRT, yalnızca habercilik misyonuyla hizmet veren bir kurum olmadığından dolayı bu ivme, Türkiye’de siyasi ve kültürel sahalarda da etkisini göstermiştir. TRT’nin başarılı geçmişini canlandırmak amacıyla Ankara’da TRT Yayıncılık Tarihi Müzesi açılmıştır. Yayıncılığa dair teknik malzemelerin toplanıp sergilendiği ve TRT’nin tarihçesine dair bilgilerin yer aldığı TRT Müzesi sayesinde, Türkiye’de yayıncılığın her aşamasına tanık olmak mümkün hale gelmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractBroadcasting activity in Turkey begins with the first radio broadcast trials. Compared to other countries, Turkey's transition to television broadcasting has been delayed because its adaptation to technological developments is not fast. Finally, when television broadcasting was started, an institution was needed to carry out radio and television broadcasts on behalf of the state and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) was established. With TRT's first broadcast, broadcasting activity in Turkey gained momentum rapidly and successfully, even if there were various difficulties. Since TRT is not an institution that serves only the mission of journalism, this momentum has also shown its effect in the political and cultural fields in Turkey. TRT Broadcasting History Museum was opened in Ankara to revive the successful past of TRT. Thanks to the TRT Museum, where technical materials on broadcasting are collected and exhibited and information about the history of TRT is included, it has become possible to witness every stage of broadcasting in Turkey.en_US
