dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | Köy Enstitüleri 1940’lı yıllarda köyler ve kentler arasındaki eğitim açığını kapamak, tarımsal kalkınmaya ulaşmak ve köylerdeki ağalık sistemini zayıflatmak amacıyla kurulmuş eğitim kurumlarıdır. Milli Eğitim Bakanı Hasan Âli Yücel ile İlköğretim Genel Müdürü İsmail Hakkı Tonguç’un öncülüğünde Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin 21 farklı bölgesinde açılan bu enstitülerden birisi olan Düziçi Köy Enstitüsü, aktif olduğu süre boyunca Mersin-Çukurova bölgesindeki ana eğitim kurumu konumuna sahip olmuştur. Bu projede Düziçi Köy Enstitüsü mezunu Mehmet Işık ile yapılan röportajlar ışığında Köy Enstitülerinin ulaştığı hedefler ve kullandıkları yöntemler araştırılmış ve Köy Enstitüleri’nin sağladığı eğitim incelenmiştir. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The Village Institutes were educational institutions founded in 1940ies in order to close the gap between urban and rural education, achieve agricultural development and weaken the feudal system in villages. One of many institutes founded by this incentive by the National Education Minister Hasan Âli Yücel and the Director of Primary Education İsmail Hakkı Tonguç over 21 areas of the Republic of Turkey was the Düziçi Village Institute, which was the most prominent educational institution of the Mersin-Çukurova region. In this project, in light of the interviews made with an Düziçi Village Institute alumni Mehmet Işık, the achievements and methodology used by the Institutes were examined. | en_US |
