dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makale, Balcıoğlu Ailesi’nin Türkiye’den Hollanda’ya 1971’de başlayan göç sürecini, Hollanda’da yaşadıkları uyum ve entegrasyon deneyimlerini ve 2013’te Türkiye’ye geri dönüşlerini detaylı bir şekilde incelemektedir. Hollanda’daki Türk göçmen işçilerin genel durumu, ekonomik ve politik etkenler, eğitim ve dil zorlukları, kültürel etkileşimler ve aidiyet duyguları ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca Balcıoğlu Ailesi’nin Hollanda’da geçirdikleri yıllar, yaşadıkları sosyal ve ekonomik zorluklar, aile içi ilişkiler, kimlik mücadeleleri, ve Türkiye'ye geri dönüş sonrasındaki kültürel çatışma ve toplumsal değişimler üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu, ailenin göç hikayesinde kritik bir dönüm noktasını temsil etmektedir.
dc.description.abstractThis article examines the Balcıoğlu Family's migration process from Turkey to the Netherlands starting in 1971, their integration experiences in the Netherlands, and their return to Turkey in 2013. It discusses the general situation of Turkish migrant workers in the Netherlands, including economic and political factors, education and language difficulties, cultural interactions, and feelings of belonging. The article also focuses on the years the Balcıoğlu family spent in the Netherlands, their social and economic challenges, family relationships, identity struggles, and the cultural conflicts and social changes they experienced after returning to Turkey. This represents a critical turning point in their migration story.
