dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstract1933’te Türkiye’deki üniversite ve eğitim tarihinin en önemli gelişmelerinden biri olan Üniversite Reformundan etkilenen İstanbul Üniversitesinin açılışından yıllar sonra Ankara Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi açılmıştır. Ankara Üniversitesi Fen Fakültesi 1943 yılında Türkiye’nin II. Dünya Savaşı tarafından çalkalandığı bir dönemde faaliyetine başlamıştır. Ankara Üniversitesi ve Fen Fakültesi oldukça köklü tarihiyle Türkiye’deki eğitim ve bilim gelişmelerinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Kuruluş zamanında II. Dünya Savaşı’ndan, ilerleyen dönemlerde ise gerekli siyasi olaylardan etkilenen Ankara Fen Fakültesi ve Üniversitesinin kimya, matematik, istatistik ve fizik faaliyetleri bizim araştırmamızın temellerini oluşturmaktadır. Bu konuların yanı sıra bu başlıklarda yararlanan röportajlar da araştırmanın içinde yer almaktadır. Bu röportajlar Sayın Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Akdi, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Taştekin, fakülte çalışanı Ramazan Aksoy ve emekli Fen Fakültesi Sekreteri Mustafa Akdeniz ile yapılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractYears after the opening of Istanbul University in 1933, which was affected by the University Reform, one of the most important developments in the history of universities and education in Turkey, Ankara Science Faculty was opened in 1943, a period when it was shaken by the World War II. Ankara University and the Faculty of Science have an important place in education and science developments in Turkey with their deep-rooted history. The chemistry, mathematics, statistics and physics activities of Ankara Science Faculty and University, which was affected by the World War II at the time of its establishment and the necessary political events in the following periods, form the basis of the research. In addition to these topics, interviews using these topics are also included in the research. These interviews were conducted by Mr. Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Akdi, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Taştekin, faculty employee Ramazan Aksoy and retired Science Faculty Secretary Mustafa Akdeniz.
