dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractTürkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin 12. başbakanı ve 9. cumhurbaşkanı olan Süleyman Demirel, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’ne katkıları, kendine has karakteri ve ideolojisi ile akıllarda Türk siyasi tarihinin önemli bir figürü olarak yer edinmektedir. “Çoban Sülü”, “Baba” ve “Barajlar Kralı” olarak da anılmakta olan Demirel, özgün siyasi kişiliği ve samimi tavırlarının yanında ailesine olan düşkünlüğü ile de bilinmektedir. Bu araştırmada, Süleyman Demirel’in kişiliği, özgeçmişi ve büyüdüğü ortam incelenecek; kardeşi Şevket Demirel’in torunu olan Şevket Saim Atasagun’un anlatımı ile aile ilişkileri, aile rutinleri ve aile ortamı aktarılacaktır.en_US
dc.description.abstractSüleyman Demirel, the Republic of Turkey's 12th Prime Minister and 9th President, is a significant figure in Turkish political history due to his contributions to the Republic of Turkey and his distinct personality and ideology. Demirel, also known as “Çoban Sülü”, “Baba” ,and “Barajlar Kralı” is noted for his distinct political personality, sincerity, and passion for his family. Süleyman Demirel's personality, background, and the environment he grew up in will be examined in this study; his family ties, family routines, and family atmosphere will be presented via the narrative of Şevket Saim Atasagun, the grandson of his brother Şevket Demirel.en_US
