dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu projenin amacı; Efe Aydan'ın 1971'de Galatasaray'da başlayan, 1992'de Tofaş SAS'ta son bulan basketbol kariyeri sırasında Türk basketbolunun içinde bulunduğu döneme, Efe Aydan'ın hayatından yola çıkarak ışık tutmaktır. 1960'larda Türkiye'de basketbol konusuyla başlanarak Aydan'ın çocukluk yılları incelenmiştir, ardından Efe Aydan'ın basketbol kariyeri merkeze alınarak 1970'lerden 1992'ye kadar Türk basketbolundaki değişimlerin ortaya konulması ile proje tamamlanmıştır. Yapılan detaylı kaynak taramasının yanı sıra, Efe Aydan ile bir röportaj gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmalar neticesinde, Efe Aydan'ın kariyeri boyunca elde ettiği başarılarının, Türk basketbolunun 1970'lerden günümüze gösterdiği gelişime kaynak teşkil ettiği anlaşılmıştır. Dolayısıyla, Efe Aydan'ın Türk basketbolu için değerli bir isim olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
dc.description.abstractThe main purpose of this project is to shed light on Efe Aydan's basketball career starting from Galatasaray in 1971 until the end at Tofaş SAS in 1992 and to examine the period of Turkish basketball, in the course of his career, based on Aydan's life. Starting with the topic of 1960s basketball in Turkey, Aydan's childhood was examined, subsequently, the project was completed with the revealing of the changes in Turkish basketball from 1970s to 1992 centered on Efe Aydan's basketball career. Apart from the detailed resource review, an interview was done with Efe Aydan. As a result of the research, it is proved that Aydan's success form the basis for the development of Turkish basketball from the 1970s to the present. Therefore, it is concluded that Efe Aydan is a valuable name for Turkish basketball.
