dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada Bafra ilçesinin eğitim kurumlarından Merkez İlköğretim Okulu’nun tarihi gelişimi ve Bafra şehrindeki sosyal çevreye etkisi ortaya koyuluyor. Merkez İlköğretim Okulu’nun geçmişi ve döneminin standartlarının üzerinde olan eğitimini, okulu detaylı bir tarihî incelemeye değer kılmaktadır. Araştırma, okulun kuruluşu ile kapanışı arasındaki dönemi ve okulun bölgeye nasıl etkilerde bulunduğunu birinci elden okulun farklı dönemlerine tanıklık etmiş öğrenci ve öğretmenlerin bilgileriyle ve Bafra Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü’nden elde edilen belgelerle ortaya koymayı amaçlıyor. Yazı, okulun fizikî ihtiyaçlarının karşılanmamasının ve planlı bir restorasyona gidilmemesinin okulun aktif eğitim faaliyetlerine devam edememesine neden olduğunu belirtiyor ve bu bağlamda Türkiye’de tarihî önemi bulunan eğitim kurumlarının yeterli düzeyde korunmadığını gösteriyor.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this research, the history, progress, and social impact of Bafra Merkez İlköğretim Okulu, located in the Bafra, is examined through an academic and social lens. The school’s history and high standard of education for its time makes it a fascinating subject for research. The research consists of the school’s history between its establishment and shutting down, using the firsthand experiences of the people who have been teachers and have studied at the school, supplemented by documents acquired from the Bafra Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü. The research states that the school’s physical requirements not being met and its need for restoration being ignored has led to the school being unable to accommodate its students and demonstrated that historical academic institutions in Turkey are not being accordingly protected and cared for.en_US
