dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractJaponya ve Çin arasında gerçekleşen 1937-1945 yıllarını kapsayan İkinci Çin-Japon Savaşı olarak bilinen savaş, İkinci Dünya savaşı sırasında Rusya’nın da devreye girmesiyle Tatarlar için Uzak Doğu’da yaşamı oldukça zorlaştırdı. Çin Devletinin siyasi rejiminde yaptığı değişiklerin ve izledikleri politikaların Tatar halkının Uzak Doğu’daki yaşamını tehdit etmesiyle birlikte yıllar sürecek bir göç sürecini başladı. Tatarlar başlıca Türkiye olmak üzere bazı Avrupa ve Amerika ülkelerine göç etti. Göç süreci Tatarların bulundukları toplumda azınlık olarak kalmasına yol açtığından kendi dil ve kültürlerini kapsayacak şekilde bir kimlik sorunu yaşamalarına sebep oldu. Japonya-Çin savaşları sonrası ana vatanına göç eden Prof. Dr. Nadir Devlet bu süreçte çeşitli ülkelere yerleşmek zorunda kaldı. Ardından Prof. Dr. Nadir Devlet Türkiye’de yaptığı çalışmalar ile Uzak Doğu Tatarlarının göç sürecinde yaşadıklarını ele alan tarih kaynakları yazdı. Kendisi göç olaylarından etkilenmesi sebebiyle yazdıkları kaynaklar ve röportajları ile Uzak Doğu Tatar göçünün tarihe ışık tutmasına yardımcı oldu.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe wars between Japan and China, covering the years 1937-1945, made life difficult in the Far East, particularly for Tatars, with the intervention of Russia during the Second World War. The changes made by the Chinese state in its political regime and the policies they pursued threatened the life of the Tatar people in the Far East. Therefore, this situation started an immigration process that lasted for years. Tatars migrated to various European and American countries, mainly to Turkey. The migration process caused the Tatars to remain a minority in their society and caused them to have an identity problem, especially regarding their language and culture. Prof. Dr. Nadir Devlet, who migrated to his homeland after the Japan-China wars, migrated to various countries in this process. Influenced by what he encountered, Prof. Dr. Nadir Devlet provided people with various historical sources in which he wrote about the experiences of the Far Eastern Tatars in the migration process. Through his studies, historical analyses, and narratives, he shed light on the history of the Far East Tatar migration.en_US
