The search for urbanization first started with the excessive inhabitation of the shanties which were at the time greatly disrupting the Dikmen area. Since Dikmen was near the city center, project holders choose this specific area to urbanize first. Moreover Dikmen Vadisi project is the first project of Turkey in the way of urbanization. Since there are no such urbanization projects has been made in Turkey, this project had no other examples to follow. Thus, it was considered as a high risk project by the owners of the shanty houses, workers and investors. Though today the 5th and 6th phases of the Dikmen Valley Project are continuing, only the 1st and 2nd phases’ information are given in this following article.
