dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBünyan Halısı her ne kadar 3000 yıllık bir geçmişe dayansa da Türk tarihindeki asıl etkileri ilk olarak 17. yüzyıl Osmanlısında görülmeye başlanmıştır. El dokuması halılar özellikle Bünyan bölgesindeki halkın ekonomik olarak geçimini sağlamaya yardımcı olmuş yöresel bir değerdir. Halının halk için bu kadar değerli hale gelmesinde bölgenin sosyokültürel durumu ve coğrafi konumu önemli rol oynamıştır. Halkın erkek nüfusu çalışmak için şehir dışına çıkmak zorunda kaldığında Bünyan halısını dokuyup satmak kadınlar için ev geçindirmek bakımından bir fırsat olmuştur. Bu makalede halının Türk kültüründeki yeri, karakteristik özellikleri, motiflerin anlamı ve kadınların gözünden önemi incelenmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractEven though Bünyan carpet has a history of 3000 years, the first time that it observed was Ottoman Empire in 17th century. These hand made carpets are cultural values which especially helps folks to maintain their economic standings. The main reason that the carpet became so valuable for the people is because of the regions socio-cultural and geographical conditions. When male population of Bünyan left for working, weaving carpet became an opportunity for women. In this article: the cultural place of the carpet, significative, meanings of the designs and patterns and the importance from women’s point of view had been examined.en_US
