In recent decades, women worldwide have faced historical challenges related to their limited participation in the scientific field. This phenomenon can be partly attributed to prevailing patriarchal societal beliefs. Turkey is not an exception to this case. Cultural and religious beliefs in Turkey have created a significant challenge for women scientists compared to their counterparts in Western societies. Thus, feeling represented in their area inspires women, as it encourages and motivates them. Dilhan Eryurt is an important name when it comes to Turkish women’s representation in STEM. This paper delves into a comprehensive analysis of statistics related to higher education in Turkey for women in the twentieth century and establishes a connection between these statistics and Dilhan Eryurt’s active years in her field, arguing that she had a noteworthy impact in encouraging Turkish women in STEM.
