After the declaration of the Republic, Bursa province gradually became the industrial capital of Turkey. The city’s industrialization in a short time, together with the labor migration, shaped the city’s cultural and economic structure. The Bosch factory, established in Bursa in 1972, made investments in the city and contributed to the city’s development. It affected the city’s demographic structure together with the workforce working in the factory. This article examines the changes that the Bosch factory made to the city’s demographic and economic structure between 1972 and 2001 and how the factory overcame the 2001 Economic Crisis.
