dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractBu makalede Türk cam sanatının temsilcilerinden Menekşe Bilgiç’in hayatı, sanat kariyeri ve eserleri Menekşe Bilgiç ile röportaj yapılarak incelenmiştir. Tasavvuf ve mitolojiye duyduğu ilginin sanatını nasıl şekillendirdiği, cam sanatıyla tanışma sürecinde karşılaştığı zorluklar ve bu sanattaki yenilikçi yaklaşımları incelenmiştir. Ayrıca sanatçının tezhip ve hat sanatını cama işleyerek UNESCO tarafından Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras Taşıyıcısı olarak tanınma süreci, sanat eserleri ve eserlerinin topluma verdiği mesajlar değerlendirilmiştir. Makalede, Bilgiç’in sanat yolculuğunun yanı sıra Türk cam sanatının ulusal ve uluslararası düzeydeki bilinirliğine olan katkıları da vurgulanmaktadır.
dc.description.abstractThis article examines the life, artistic career and works of Menekşe Bilgiç, one of the representatives of Turkish glass art, through an interview with Menekşe Bilgiç. It examines how her interest in Sufism and mythology shaped her art, the difficulties she encountered during her introduction to glass art and her innovative approaches to this art. In addition, the process of the artist's recognition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Carrier by UNESCO by applying the art of illumination and calligraphy to glass, the works of art and the messages her works convey to society are evaluated. In addition to Bilgiç's artistic journey, the article also emphasizes her contributions to the recognition of Turkish glass art at national and international levels.
