| dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

| dc.description.abstract | Cavit Çağlar'ın hayatını ve etkileyici kariyerini ele alacak olan bu makale, Türkiye'de medyanın 1960-2000 yılları arasındaki evrimine odaklanarak başlayacaktır. Ardından, Çağlar'ın doğuşundan itibaren yaşadığı zorluklar ve iş hayatına nasıl başladığı ile ilgili detaylar incelenecektir. Girişimcilik ve liderlik konularında edindiği deneyimlerle dikkat çeken Çağlar'ın siyasete nasıl girdiği, siyaseti nasıl etkilediği ve Süleyman Demirel ile olan ilişkileri ele alınacaktır. Ayrıca, Cavit Çağlar'ın medya sektöründeki etkisi, NTV'nin kuruluşu ve işleyişi, medya patronu kimliği ve ilgi çekici bir detay olarak Putin'in madalya verişi gibi konular işlenecektir. Cavit Çağlar, iş hayatı, siyaset ve medya açısından Türkiye’de adından sıkça söz ettiren bir kişi olduğu için araştırmaya değer görülmüştür. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This article, which will discuss the life and impressive career of Cavit Çağlar, will begin by focusing on the evolution of the media in Turkey between 1960 and 2000. Then, details about the difficulties Çağlar has experienced since his birth and how he started his business life will be examined. How Çağlar, who draws attention with his experiences in entrepreneurship and leadership, entered politics, how he influenced politics and his relations with Süleyman Demirel will be discussed. In addition, topics such as Cavit Çağlar's influence in the media sector, the establishment and functioning of NTV, his identity as a media mogul and, as an interesting detail, Putin's awarding of medals will be discussed. Cavit Çağlar was deemed worthy of research because he is a person who is frequently mentioned in Turkey in terms of business life, politics and media. | |
