dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstractİbo Show, 1993'ten 2011 yılına kadar ekranlarda kalmayı başaran bir programdı. Bu çalışmada İbo Show'un seçilmesinin sebepleri; on sekiz yıl boyunca değişen siyasi ortama, dramatik bir şekilde artan televizyon içeriği kısıtlamalarına, İbrahim Tatlıses aleyhine çıkan haberlere rağmen programın üslubunu koruyabilmesidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı İbrahim Tatlıses'in kadınlara karşı aşağılayıcı tavrının ve kadınlara gösterdiği şiddetin nasıl bir eğlence programı mezesi olarak sunulduğunun incelenmesidir. Çalışmanın başlangıcında İbo Show'un sıyrılışının anlaşılması için başladığı dönem ve içeriği hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Sonrasında programın aldığı tepkiler kadın başlığı içerisinde tartışılmıştır. Son olarak Tatlıses'in kadınlarla iletişimi ve kadının programdaki yeri incelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractIbo Show was a program that managed to stay on screens from 1993 to 2011. The reasons for the Ibo Show selection in this study were that the program was able to maintain its style despite eighteen years of changing political environment, dramatically increasing television content restrictions, and reports against Ibrahim Tatlises. The aim of this study is to examine Ibrahim Tatlises' demeaning attitude towards women and how violence against women is presented as an entertainment program appetizer. At the beginning of the study, information was given about the period and content of the Ibo Show to understand the stripping. The reactions received by the program were discussed in the women's title. Finally, Tatlises' communication with women and women's place in the program were examined.
