dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu araştırma İnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın 1956 yılındaki kuruluşundan, 1980 yılına kadar olan süreci aydınlatma gayesi gütmektedir. Giriş kısmı ile beraber toplam dört kısımdan oluşmaktadır. Giriş kısmında, araştırmada 1950'li yıllardaki mühendislik mesleğinin önemini, mühendislerin o dönem yaşadıkları örgütlenme ihtiyacını ve bunlara müteakip Türk Mühendis ve Mimar Odaları Birliği kurulması ve Türk Mühendis ve Mimar Odaları Birliği Kanunun amacı ve avantajları, onun ardından kurulan Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın kuruluşu, Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın örgüt anlayışı, odaya üye olma şartları, odanın yayınları ve ilk dönem faaliyetleri, Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın yönetim kurulu başkanları, yönetim kurulu üyeleri yer almaktadır. Ġkinci kısımda, Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın 1970'li yıllarda yaşadığı etkili olan mücadelelerini anlatılmaktadır. üçüncü kısımda ise, Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası'nın 1977 ile 1980 yılları arasında yapılan faaliyetlere, örgütsel çalışmalara ve karşılaşılan problemlere yer verilmiştir. Son kısımda ise Mustafa Atmaca ile yapılan 1977-1980 arasında Ġnşaat Mühendisleri Odası temalı röportaj yer almaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis research is aiming to set light on time between the foundation of the Civil Engineering Association, 1956, and 1980's. It is consist of three parts including the introduction part. Introduction part includes the importance of the engineering profession at 1950's, the need for the organization of engineers during that period, and then the establishment of the Union of Association of Turkish Engineers and Architects, the purpose and advantages of the Law of the Union of Association of Turkish Engineers and Architects, the establishment of the Association of Civil Engineers established after it, the understanding of the organization by Civil Engineering Association's perspective, the reqirements of the membership to the association, publications of the association and first term activities, The board of directors and the boar members of the Association of Civil Engineers.In the second part, the influential struggles of the Association of Civil Engineers in the 1970s were discussed. In the third part, the activities and organizational studies that the association has done and the problems that the association has faced between 1977 and 1980 are included. Last part includes the interview with Mustafa Atmaca about Association of Civil Engineers between 1977-1980.en_US
