dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu makalede Denizli'nin küçük bir kasabası olan Nikfer'in ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel gelişmesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu gelişmelere neden olan kırılma noktasından başlayarak olayların nasıl geliştiği birçok tanık ve yazılı kaynak kullanılarak desteklenmiştir. Kırılma noktası olarak Avrupa’ya işçi gönderme fikrinin ortaya çıkması kabul edilmiştir. Avrupa’ya gitmek için Nikfer halkının verdiği çabalar, Avrupa'da yaşadıkları zorluklar, Avrupa'nın göçmenlere katkıları ve bu katkıları nasıl Nikfer'in gelişmesi için kullandıkları vurgulanmıştır. Sonuç olarak, günümüzde Nikfer’in ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel alanda hangi seviyede olduğu gösterilmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this article, the economic and socio-cultural development of Nikfer, a small town in Denizli, has been emphasized. Starting from the breaking point that led to these developments, how the events developed has been supported by many witnesses and written sources. The emergence of the idea of sending workers to Europe was accepted as a breaking point. The efforts of the Nikfer people to go to Europe, the difficulties they face in European countries, the contributions of Europe to immigrants and how they use these contributions for the development of Nikfer were emphasized. As a result, it has been shown at what level Nikfer is in the economic and socio-cultural field today.en_US
