dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractAbidin Dino 1913 yılında İstanbul’da doğmuştur. Varlıklı bir aileden gelen Dino, Cenevre’de doğup büyümüş 1920 yılında ise ailesiyle Paris’e tanışıp ilköğretimini tamamlamıştır. Sadece resimle ilgilenmemiş sinema, belgesel ve yazarlık gibi birçok alanda eserler vermiştir. Adana’dan İtalya’ya kadar farklı ülkelerde sürgün hayatı yaşamış olan Dino çeşitli arkadaşlıklar kurmuştur. 80 yaşında yakalandığı tiroit kanseri sebebiyle 7 Aralık 1993 yılında Paris’te vefat etmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractAbidin Dino was born in 1913 in Istanbul. Coming from a wealthy family, Dino was born and raised in Geneva. In 1920, he moved with his family to Paris and completed his primary education. He was not only interested in painting but also produced works in many fields such as cinema, documentaries, and authorship. Having lived in exile in different countries, from Adana to Italy, Dino has established various friendships. He died on December 7, 1993, in Paris, due to thyroid cancer at the age of 80.en_US
