dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.en_US

dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada ilk olarak dünyanın bale ile tanışma süreci ve Türkiye’deki gelişimi hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Türk balesinin incelenmesi kapsamında Dame Ninette de Valois ve onun kurduğu Türkiye’deki ilk bale okulu olan Yeşilköy Bale Akademisi araştırılmıştır. Daha sonra Dame Ninette de Valois’in de üzerinde etkisi olan, Türk Balesinin önemli isimlerinden Dilek Evgin’in kariyer hayatı, Türk balesine katkıları ve onun gözünden Türk halkının baleye olan bakış açısı yapılan röportajlar sayesinde bu çalışmaya aktarılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractIn this study, information about the rise and development of ballet in the world is given. While focusing on Turkish ballet, Dame Ninette de Valois and the first ballet school of Turkey, Yeşilköy Ballet Academy that was founded by her, were investigated. Then, the career of Dilek Evgin whose ballet career was affected by Madame Ninette de Valois was searched. The interview made with her gives details about her contribution to Turkish ballet and her views about Turkish society’s approach to ballet. The information gained from the interview was transferred to this study.en_US
