dc.descriptionThe History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards.

dc.description.abstract1947 yılı itibariyle başlayan Türk animasyonunun tarihi, Türk animasyonunun ilk örnekleri olan “Evvel Zaman İçinde” ve “Zeybek Oyunu” ile başlayarak çeşitli örneklerle zenginleşmiştir. Türkiye’ye animasyonun nasıl girdiği, nasıl şekillendiği, ve Türk kültürü ile birleşmesi makalenin ana başlıklarıdır. Canlandırma sinemasının gelişim sürecinde ortaya konulan örnekler incelenmiştir ve bu yapıtların ortaya çıkmasında katkısı/rolü olan insanlar ele alınmıştır. Bu sektörün doğuşuna katkıda bulunan karikatürcülerin de animasyona nasıl geçtiği ve canlandırma sinemasına neler kazandırdıkları da makalenin alt başlıkları arasındadır. Animasyona yön veren bilgisayar teknikleri ve bu sanat dalını derinden etkileyen reklam sektörüne de değinilmiştir. Ayrıca sektörün yurt dışına açılması ve bu alanda gelişmeye dair yapılan yatırımlar da incelenmiştir.
dc.description.abstractThe history of Turkish animation, which debuted in 1947, has been enriched with examples such as “Evvel Zaman İçinde” and “Zeybek Oyunu”, which were the first examples of Turkish animation. The article’s main topics include how animation started in Turkey, how it shaped over time and how animation merged with Turkish culture. Examples that have been created during the development stage of the animation industry have been examined and the people who have had a role in creating these works have been covered in detail. The process of how the caricaturists which have contributed to the birth of this industry got into animation, and their contributions to the animation industry are among the subsections of the article. Computer techniques that have shaped animation and the advertisement industry which has deeply impacted this branch of art have also been mentioned. Additionally, the expansion of this industry abroad, and the investments regarding the development of this field have been investigated.
