dc.description | The History of Turkey course (HIST200) is a requirement for all Bilkent undergraduates. It is designed to encourage students to work in groups on projects concerning any topic of their choice that relates to the history of Turkey. It is designed as an interactive course with an emphasis on research and the objective of investigating events, chronologically short historical periods, as well as historic representations. Students from all departments prepare and present final projects for examination by a committee, with 10 projects chosen to receive awards. | en_US |

dc.description.abstract | 1940’lı yıllardan beri, yıllar boyunca birçok farklı kesime hitap eden ve nesiller boyunca aynı ailenin işlettiği bir dükkân tarafından satılan Goralı sandviçi, Ankara’nın önemli kültürel miraslarından biri olmuştur. Bu nedenle, Başkent’in yemek kültürünü etkileyen ve yıllar boyunca Ankara halkının buluşma noktalarından biri olmuş olan bu sandviçin tarihi analiz etmeye değer bir konudur. Konu hakkında birçok çalışmaya ve Goralı ailesinin mensuplarından biri ile gerçekleştirilen bir röportaja dayanan bu makale, Goralı sandviçinin, icadının ve tarihinin bir incelemesi ve tahlili olacaktır. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The ‘Goralı’ sandwich, having appealed to people of every type and served by a store ran by the same family for generations, has been an important cultural heritage of Ankara since the 1940’s. For this reason, the history of this sandwich that has affected the culture of food in the Turkish capital and has been one of the meetings spots in Ankara for years is a subject worth examining. This article that is based upon several works and an interview conducted with a member of the Goralı family will be an analysis and investigation of the Goralı sandwich, its invention and its history. | en_US |
